A few weeks ago we were joined for a few days by a team from Seasalt who were on Scilly shooting pictures for their summer 2013 collection. One of Seasalt’s strap lines is… ‘designed by the sea for people everywhere’, so what better place to use as a back drop for their lovely sea inspired designs than the Isles of Scilly.
Seasalt is a Cornish clothes company that has grown out of a small family run outdoor clothing and equipment store in Penzance to a trendy clothing label stocked by John Lewis and with stores across the South West. The company is still run by the same family and they have always aimed to produce their clothes and run their business in an environmentally responsible way.
At Scilly Flowers we might be renowned for our lovely flowers but our sartorial elegance is often found wanting as we tramp round the farm in wellies and blue hoodies. Having clothes rails of pretty clothes, bags of make up and a real live hairdresser at the farm was a novelty.
The Seasalt team worked really hard, the level of organisation needed to get all the shots they needed, at locations dotted all over the farm and St Martin’s, in the windows of opportunity when the light and weather were in their favour was no mean feat.
As ever, Dibble our spaniel made some new friends amongst the Seasalt team – they did bring a large box of snacks with them which may have played a small part in the winning of Dibble’s affections.
We of course got a sneak preview of Seasalt’s summer collection – lots of pretty floral prints, stripy tops and soft shades but shh…. we can’t say too much – all will be revealed in the spring when the Scilly photos will be put to use in Seasalt’s ‘Spring Look-book.’
You don’t have to live in the South West to enjoy Seasalt’s lovely clobber they have a very good website http://www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/ where you can find out all about them.
