Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stay in one of our holiday cottages on St. Martin’s? Our guest blogger Nerissa Allen can give you a little insight into what a Churchtown Farm holiday is all about. Nerissa stayed in our apartment with her husband Mark and one year old daughter Bea at the beginning of July.
I’ve been coming to the islands for many years, the beautiful beaches are hard to beat and a holiday on St. Martin’s is guaranteed to be very relaxing. There is a quiet peacefulness, even with a one year old in tow!
There is plenty to explore on St. Martin’s. Rock pooling is a must. It’s great that the Seven Stones pub is back in action, a pint on the terrace looking over the amazing view of all of the islands is the perfect way to finish the day.
It’s really easy to get around the island. The bakery, shop and tearoom are all within a five minute walk of the apartment and you can take your pick of stunning beaches that are only a short distance away. Just opposite the cottages there is the boat board advertising daily trips to the other islands. I would definitely recommend a trip to Tresco to visit the Abbey Gardens.
This year is the first time we’ve stayed at Churchtown Farm. The apartment was lovely, it was very clean and nicely decorated with gorgeous sea views. There are excellent facilities in the kitchen and washer/ dryer is really handy after a day on the beach. The lounge was cosy and the bed was really comfy! Zoe had also popped in a highchair and travel cot that were perfect for Bea.
There is a pretty ‘secret garden’ area with great outdoor furniture and a BBQ for guests to use. On one of the days I cooked roast lamb and we ate outside on the decking whilst Bea played with a train set we found in the summerhouse toy box.
I would highly recommend staying at Churchtown Farm. Ben and Zoe have gone the extra mile to make sure a holiday in their cottages is really special. In fact I think my parents are thinking of booking!
If Nerissa’s blog post has inspired you to book a holiday you will be pleased to hear that we still have availability this Autumn and over the October half term.
Autumn is a special time to visit St. Martin’s, the holiday season is coming to an end and it is a time to meet the locals, talk to the fishermen mending their pots or chat to the farmers in their fields. You can take exhilarating cliff walks or cosy up in our cottages with a book. Whatever you choose to do the island is the perfect place to unwind, find peace and to recharge the batteries.
